Ibzan, Elon and Abdon

Ibzan

After Jephtah's death, the judge was Ibzan of Beth-Lehem. He is also known as Boaz, by which name he is called in the Book of Ruth. Ruth the Moabite had been left the childless widow of Ibzan's cousin. Boaz married her, and together they became the ancestors of King David, born four generations later.

Ibzan judged Israel for seven years.

Elon

After the death of Ibzan, Elon, a native of Zebulun, became the Judge. He ruled for ten years.

Abdon

The next Judge was Abdon, an Ephraimite, who ruled over Israel for eight years.

About this Book
Our People
Our People, originally published in 1946, was the first Jewish history book for the English speaking reader. Read today, it still provides a comprehensive outline of Jewish history, and also a view of the telling of history as it evolved over the last century.
